· PDF (Portable document format):
A PDF file may contain one or more pages. It allows viewing of each page in sequence. The viewed pages in these files are exactly as they would look in print. A PDF document may be obtained from a variety of sources like word processing or page layout programs, print drivers, document scanners etc. It’s very convenient to use these files since Adobe reader used to view these files is pre-installed in practically every computer these days, and the files can also be viewed in almost all web browsers as well.
· CAD files:
All the design and drafting work is done using CAD (computer aided design) software now that use DWG or DXF files. These are binary file formats. DWG file format is used in architectural, civil engineering, interior designing and many such fields where heavy 2D and 3D drawings are created. These files can easily store this design data and can be modified and edited easily.
Even though DWG and DXF are very versatile formats, the design data stored in them becomes very heavy and it gets difficult to email it; so the necessity for PDF to CAD conversion arises. They are converted into the lighter PDF files which can easily be emailed. PDF files cannot be edited, so PDF to CAD conversion is employed later to reconvert them into CAD files that can be viewed, modified and edited conveniently.
